You need as many income streams as you can handle. One you've mastered the the Programs and Promotion sections of hi2s.biz you may want to branch out into even more online income opportunities. This page shows you some of our favorites.

Advertisement Publishing

Once you've started publishing your own web sites advertising other people's products and services on them is pretty simple these days. (Don't have your own website yet? You must have skipped ahead... you need MK Hosting.) Publishing some content ads or a banner or two on your site is a very easy way to monetize some of your traffic. Don't over do it though. Again you have to test, test, test to see what your visitors will click on.

Google AdSense is the industry standard for text link content advertising. Free to join and fun to play with. You've seen these on almost every web site out there. Those little "Google Ads" are a great way to make a little extra money depending on how much traffic your site gets. Make sure you learn the rules (don't click the ads on your own site and never use any page with Google Ads on it in Traffic Exchanges) as Google is notorious for letting your account get fat and when you request payment they then actually investigate whether you broke any rules or not. If you did, guess what happens...

Affiliate publishing has also turned a corner in just the last few years. Commission Junction is on the cutting edge. Opening an account is free and you can browse through a list of companies that will allow you to use their banners, text links, keyword links and content links to promote their web sites. You have to apply to each advertiser for approval. Some aren't concerned too much with who they approve (you have to agree to their TOS of course) and some may actually want to visit your web site before allowing you to place their advertising on it. You earn commissions from the sales you drive to these companies. We pretty much stick to adding banners on web sites, but you can publish ads in many other ways including links and PPC.
Link Share is a newer company very similar to CJ above. We like their web site a little better but it does seem the merchants here are a little more picky with who they approve to publish their ads. Just like CJ it free to open an account. Below are some current banners from some big name advertisers we work with. They were published here to show you an example of the types of companies that use CJ and LS. There are marketers that make a living exclusively from publishing ads from the different companies that utilize Commission Junction and Link Share.

eBay

We personally believe everyone should have an eBay account. It is absolutely amazing what people will buy on the Internet. We know someone who made a lot of money in 2002 purchasing items at a certain niche ladies clothing store that was nearby her house. People who didn't have one of these stores near them snatched her stuff up. Searching eBay for items that have sold recently is a good place to start. If you want to get really nutty on eBay, get Alex Goad's Four Tier Annihilation Method. For $77, you will learn how to dominate the eBay marketplace like you invented it. The methods contained in this digital download include how to decide what to sell, where to get it and a whole lot more.

Amazon

Becoming an Amazon.com associate is easy and free. You can build your own store, place widgets on your web site and a few other neat tricks. Amazon keeps track of it all for you and you earn commissions off of the sales from your store. You don't have to be a web master and publish the store on a page like we did here (which doesn't quite fit on this page obviously.) You can simply use a link to your store on Amazon. Here's a little store we published for this page in about 10 minutes:

Cybersquatting & Domain Parking

Cybersquatting involves buying domain names and "squatting" on them in the hopes someone will want to buy it from you. Did you ever mis-type a domain in your browser and a web site with advertising all over it comes up? That's classic "Parking." You buy a domain and park it with a bunch of ads all over it and wait to see if anyone wants to buy it from you. This can be an income stream in and of itself. The best way to jump into this is with Sedo. You can park domains for free and make money from clicks on the ads that appear on your parked site. There are professionals at this out there that buy domains that already had a lot of traffic and park them for profit from the advertising on them or from selling them on the open market. The longer a domain has been registered and the more traffic it has had over time the more it is worth.

Jimbo owns a little web design agency based in Panama (
Design Sense) and was thinking about setting up his own hosting service for small businesses in 2008. He looked up panaweb.net and saw it was close to expiring from it's then current owner. The owner didn't renew and Jimbo got it. He's still not really using it and might not ever so it is parked. Keep in mind it only costs around $10 a year (or less) to own a domain. Jimbo's had a few offers for it so far but plans to hang on to it for at least another year or two.

Photography

Stock Images

Stock images can be another nice little income stream. Web masters use these services when working on projects for royalty free graphics and images. Our favorite is iStockphoto. Very solid company and reputation. To submit your photos you will have to learn a little bit, but all the information you need is available for free on the site. All you need is a decent digital camera and maybe a tripod for it.

Now don't get us wrong, you can't just go around snapping photos of your cat and expect to get rich, but the potential here is very real. Once you've submitted your test images and have shown the editors here you actually know what you are doing you can crank up your digital camera and get paid for your photos. There are folks who make a pretty penny from photographs of very strange things; like grass, or the sky.

Personal Images

Another digital photography income stream is selling photographs to the general public. Unlike stock photo services, which are geared towards graphic and web designers, there are companies that cater to professional photographers who sell their shots to the general public. You could take photos of people at a beach or in vacation type spots with their kids and then give them a card with your website on it. When they get home they can go to your website, look over the photos and order the ones they like. They can be downloaded or people can order actual prints. A SmugMug Pro Account is the easiest and cheapest way to get this going. $150 a year gets you a website that you can design, the features mentioned and you set your own prices. Now that's cool.
